These are clips and photos of the Miami , Miami Beach area, where I lived and worked and played for years, beginning in 1980.
Now when I see people on the beach, I see skin cancer.
Little did I know what I was doing to my body back then. I hardly ever used protective lotion. I tanned easily after a burn. I had no idea that in my senior years, I would be diagnosed with "skin cancer", not one but three of them.
This Monday, February 13th, at 8:30 a.m.?will be the first of three surgeries, and by the end of this month, hopefully all the cancer tumors will be out of my body. One is inside my right arm. Another is front center in my chest, and the other one is in my left leg. They are all three large basal cell, as they have been growing for years. They are not on top of the skin, they are deeper inside now.
I was the typical "beach girl" in my younger days, and loved the sunshine and all the warmth and vitamin D it put into my body. I had no idea bad things were making their way in at the same time.
Bottom line: If you must go to the beach, or if you work outside, always slather up good with the highest count of sun protective lotion.
This is still, "One Awesome Life."
